What is a Spooktacular Sprint?

The Spooktacular Sprint is the primary fundraiser for Woodin PTA. With Northshore School District continuing to be affected by state cuts to educational funding, PTA's support is needed more than ever. Woodin PTA is a volunteer organization existing to enrich every child's learning experience by significantly contributing to programs both in and out of the classroom. These programs enhance the learning experiences for Woodin students and support the efforts of our teachers and staff. PTA also helps keep our community connected and informed through family involvement, events and regular communications. The funds raised from this Spooktacular Sprint afford the continuation of important programs and services at Woodin Elementary School. Here are just a few ways your dollars make a difference:

  • Art: supplies for every class, student directory, Reflections art contest
  • Literacy: library and classroom book purchases and book fair
  • Emergency Preparedness: planning and supplies
  • Instructional Enhancement: teacher grants, grade-level grants, online programs like BrainPop, afterschool tutoring and Math in Action.
  • Class Enrichment: scholarships for class field trips, indoor recess, and school and playground equipment
  • Social Services: food bank and clothing drives & Families Helping Families program
  • Communication: newsletters, emails, flyers and website
  • Community: assemblies, science fair, family fun nights, field day and so much more.

Where and When is it? NEW DATE due to Weather

The Spooktacular Sprint will take place outside Woodin Elementary on the upper fields. It will be held rain or shine on Friday, October 27th at 5:30PM. Due to new state and district regulations, we are not longer able to hold this fundraiser during school hours.

Distance: 0.5 miles (Children may un twice or more and parents are encouraged to run) Snacks will be provided and there will be music for your running pleasure.

 

How does the Spooktacular Sprint Work?

  1. Collect donations - students will have the opportunity to collect donations from family, friends and employers. Download and complete the required information on the Healthy Kids Fun Run form and put in the donation envelope. Don't forget about employee matching*! Matching is a great way to double your donations without extra work. All donation are tax-deductible. Daily prize drawings to all participants! For your convenience, you can also register HERE to participate in the Spooktacular Sprint (Woodin Families) and/or donate online.
  2. Return donations with completed paper form to your classroom by October 20th, 2017. Download the Spooktacular Sprint donation form here (ENGLISH | ESPAÑOL).
  3. Come to school on October 20th, at 5:30 PM, rain or shine. The students will run/walk for 20 minutes around a track and family members are encouraged to join.

 

Are Prizes Awarded?

Yes! There will be daily drawings for various giftcards and prizes starting October 9 (school days) for children that return their packets to their teachers before October 20th. There will be class party for the class with the most donation raised. There will also be a class parties awarded to the class with the highest participation on the fundraiser, class which raised the most, and highest participation day of the Spooktacular Sprint event.
